IPDNS / FIELD NOTES

Use IPDNS with context

IPDNS is an informational utility, not an automated administration service or an availability guarantee.

Check consequential decisions

Public resolver answers can be cached, incomplete or unavailable. A match between two resolvers is not proof of worldwide propagation. A DNSSEC flag is not an independent audit, and a DNS response does not establish website reachability. Verify important changes against your authoritative records and actual environment.

Respect shared resources

IPDNS has a hard limit of 60 requests per source IP in any rolling 60 seconds, including pages, assets and API calls. DNS lookup requests also have a separate limit of 6 per minute. Visitors behind the same public IP share these budgets. On HTTP 429, wait for the Retry-After period before trying again. Do not evade limits or use the service to support abuse.

No automatic configuration

IPDNS does not change records, configure resolvers or modify your network. You are responsible for reviewing results before acting on them. Do not submit secrets or confidential internal names.

Promotions and outside websites

House promotions are separate from the DNS results and are never required to use the tool. Destination sites have their own terms, privacy practices and availability. IPDNS does not process purchases made through those links.
